Both Hegel and Marx made use of a form of historical and systematic dialectic. Dirk Damsma explores how a systematic dialectical perspective elucidates the nature of mathematics by clarifying the nature of the concepts that the mathematical sciences depend on. He also illustrates how a systematic dialectical perspective on capitalism may inform assumptions for mathematical models and how the results of these models can further the systematic dialectical exhibition that gave rise to the assumptions.
