Christien van der Linden investigates the widespread and complex problem of ‘crowding’ at emergency departments. Crowding refers to the situation in which the demand for ED care exceeds ED capacity. Little is known about the extent of crowding in the Netherlands. Van der Linden focuses on different aspects of ED crowding and patient flow at the emergency department.
