HIV-1 requires many host factors, which interact with the virus during its viral life cycle, to successfully multiply. At the same time, other host factors can protect the cell and inhibit the virus from multiplying. Thijs Booiman investigates the effect of different known and new host factors on viral replication and disease course after HIV-1 infection.
