Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is a treatment whereby the feces of a healthy donor is inserted into a patient’s intestinal tract. Historically, FMTs are given mainly for antibiotic associated diarrhea. Els van Noord provides insight into the background, mechanism and efficacy of FMTs.
