Skilled professional care for pregnant women is not only important during childbirth, but also during the prenatal and postnatal period. Current research has been unable to give a complete understanding of non-western women’s prenatal and postnatal care utilisation in the Netherlands. Agatha Boerleider gives insight into factors and reasons explaining non-western women’s inadequate prenatal care utilisation, and the experiences of midwives and maternity care assistants with non-western women.
