Computed tomography (CT) scanning has become essential in the early diagnostic phase of trauma care. It is a fast and highly accurate modality for the identification of various injuries and it enables a rapid response to life-threatening problems. Especially total-body CT (TBCT) scanning is increasingly used. Joanne Sierink investigates the role of (immediate) TBCT scanning in severely injured patients, considering its benefits and boundaries.
