Anxiety disorders are the most prevalent kind of psychological problems among children. Only a minority of these children are referred to mental health care. Loes Jongerden investigates the gap between research on anxiety disorders in children and clinical practice. She looks at whether impairment in the daily functioning of children as a result of their anxiety disorders is associated with referral to mental health care.
