Major depressive disorder (MDD) is defined as a multidimensional syndrome involving disruption of mood, cognition, sensorimotor functions, and homeostatic/drive functions (including those that control sleep, appetite and libido) over at least two weeks but most often a much longer period of time. Bart de Kwaatsteniet investigates the neurobiological mechanisms of treatment resistant depression (TRD).
