In her research, Sigridur Thormar describes the incidence of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms, anxiety, depression, and subjective health complaints in volunteers working in the aftermath of an earthquake. She does this using a longitudinal study of the aftermath of an earthquake that struck the area of Yogjakarta, on the island of Java in Indonesia. Another aim was to identify predictors of pathology, and in particular PTSD, in volunteers.
