In recent years greater insight has been gained into urinary problems in men and more attention has been paid to the role played by overactive bladder syndrome (OAB) in addition to prostatic obstruction. This has resulted in an increase in the use of muscarinic receptor antagonists in male patients, even though these drugs have mainly been tested among female OAB patients. Bart Witte’s seeks a more precise understanding on their effects in the lower urinary tract of male patients, so their full therapeutic potential can be utilised.
