Erik Olsman’s research focuses on the role of hope in palliative care. He studies the different perspectives on hope of healthcare professionals, patients and their family members, taking a longitudinal, qualitative approach. Olsman also explores the conceptual and ethical dimensions of these perspectives, arguing that healthcare professionals should take a relational-ethical approach to hope.
