Affecting 170-210 million individuals worldwide, hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is a major global health issue. The disease largely proceeds without visible symptoms, but can lead to liver damage after 20 to 30 years, with patients at risk of liver failure or liver cancer. The aim of Bart Grady’s research is to increase our understanding of the risk of HCV infection and the natural history of the virus, both in the early and late stages of infection.
