There is a broad spectrum of available HIV medication, but because HIV can eventually become resistant new kinds of medicines need to be developed that are better armed against this effect. Nikki van Bel investigates the role played by the sequence and structure of the HIV-1RNA genome by replicating it and producing different variations, in order to gain a better understanding of the resistance of the virus.
