In Sri Lanka and many other developing countries chronic abdominal pain is most commonly caused by a functional gastrointestinal disorder such as irritable bowel syndrome, functional dyspepsia or obstipation. Niranga Devanarayana’s research focuses on relevant epidemiological and pathophysiological aspects of these functional gastrointestinal disorders in children and adolescents in Sri Lanka.
