Marie Beauchamps investigates the political dimension of citizenship and nationality in France. She focuses specifically on the phenomenon of denaturalization (i.e. deprivation of citizenship) in the eighteenth century and during World Wars I and II, when it was mainly used as a weapon against persons perceived as a threat by the state. In her study Beauchamps combines insights from history, legal studies, security studies and narratology.
