Vaccination is an important strategy to counter morbidity and mortality caused by influenza (the flu). Helen Green assessed the impact of extending the UK’s national influenza vaccination programme for children. She looked at the disease burden of influenza in the population, the uptake of the vaccine and the epidemiological impact of the programme.
