For her thesis, Jeanine van der Ven-van Dam studied spontaneous preterm birth. Preterm birth is generally defined as a delivery before 37 completed weeks of gestation. The aim was to identify women at risk for preterm birth in a low-risk population, and assess the effect of progesterone for the prevention of preterm birth in women who have a short cervical length.
