In the context of evidence-based medicine, medical guidelines and training literature processes of giving and receiving are framed in the following way: patients receive the care provided by caregivers. However, as Beate Giebner’s observations reveal, patients also give caregivers something. Her study focuses on receptivity in caregivers and shows how contact between patients and caregivers take place in a shared space.
