Defecation disorders, and especially constipation, are common childhood complaints. Because the precise mechanisms underlying these disorders are poorly understood, therapeutic options are limited. Shaman Rajindrajith studies the epidemiology, risk factors and impact on quality of life for children with functional defecation disorders in Sri Lanka, and investigates the role played by socio-cultural factors.
