Iris Haanappel-van der Burg’s research focuses on the Transfer of Undertakings Directive, an EU law governing the cross-border transfer of undertakings. This concept has implications for two types of situations: the international transfer of an undertaking where the parties involved are subject to the laws of different countries without a relocation of the undertaking itself, and the cross-border transfer of an undertaking where the undertaking is relocated from one country to another. Haanappel-van der Burg investigates whether there are significant differences in the national implementing legislation of the Directive in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Germany, and what kind of problems can arise as a result of these differences.
