Francisca Grommé investigates the experimental manner in which surveillance technologies are introduced in crime control practices in the Netherlands. She focuses on three pilot studies: an experiment with acoustic aggression detection practices by local police; a form of data mining used by local government; and the use of Codemark, a spray with traceable liquid, in public transport, to mark suspected perpetrators of assault and abusive behaviour.
