Andreas Kremer studies the molecular mechanisms underlying pruritis (itching) in liver disease, and specifically in cholestasis, a condition in which bile cannot flow from the liver to the small intestine. For cholestatis patients, pruritis is a very common complaint that has a considerable impact on their quality of life.
