Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Maayke Kok’s research focuses on the identification of subjects at risk of developing premature CVD and the characterisation of specific subpopulations within this group. She specifically investigates the diagnostic potential of circulating miRNAs as a biomarker for premature atherosclerosis.
