The Standard Model (SM) predicts various production and decay mechanisms for the Higgs boson. Each of these modes needs to be thoroughly explored to confirm that the particle recently discovered in the ATLAS and CMS experiments at CERN is indeed the Higgs boson predicted by the SM. So far, not all the production and decay modes of the Higgs boson have been observed and Nika Valenčič’s research comprises a search for one on these production-decay combinations, and more precisely the search for the VBF production mode in the Higgs boson decaying into two W bosons that subsequently decay into a lepton-neutrino pair.
