Jeroen Bakker uses a number of models to investigate the role played by the pattern recognition receptors NLRX1 and TLR9 in inflammatory kidney disease and specifically kidney damage. He studies the tissue-specific regulation of inflammation, fibrosis, proliferation, lipid homeostasis and cell death.
