Asthma is a chronic disorder of the airways, in which hyper-responsiveness and variable narrowing of the airways leads to symptoms of shortness of breath, wheezing and coughing. Despite International Guideline and the availability of powerful medications, it is not always possible to control the symptoms of asthma remains. In her research, Lucia Rijssenbeek-Nouwens studies the role of some important patient-related factors in uncontrolled asthma, as well as a number of factors relating to environmental exposures.
