The last few decades have seen the rise of a discourse in which students are presented as a target group in the global competition for talent between cities. This discourse is now predominant in city and educational communications and instrumentalises students as revenue sources, as clients of tertiary education or the ‘end products’ to be delivered to the marketplace. In her research, Núria Arbonés Aran wants to contribute new insights into student identities, by capturing images of Amsterdam as shared by a number of cohorts of young adults. These cohorts include fraternity students, football supporters and international students.
