in her research, Marjet Braamskamp discusses a number of new aspects of the treatment of familial hypercholesterolemia in children. This is a genetic condition characterised by severely increased low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels from birth, leading to cardiovascular disease at an early age. Braamskapm aims to identify additional cardiovascular risk factors, assess the safety and efficacy of novel treatment options and evaluate the consequences of long-term statin therapy initiated in childhood.
