Mycetoma is an inflammatory disease principally affecting the foot, causing deformities, disabilities and mutilation. It mainly occurs in tropical regions, where it is a serious public health problem. Sarah Ahmed’s research focuses on the biology of the most common causative agent of the infection, Madurella mycetomatis.
