Bram Eidenhof focuses on the role citizenship education can fulfil in contemporary society, equipping students with an understanding of collective issues such as democracy, social cohesion and sustainability, while providing them with the competences and motivation needed to tackle and critically reflect on these matters in local, national and international contexts. Eidenhof investigates whether and how various generic educational factors contribute to citizenship education for primary school children. These are factors are features can potentially serve multiple educational goals and are not necessarily characteristic of dedicated citizenship education.
