The aim of multifocal intraocular lens implantations (mIOL implantations) is to achieve optimal vision at all functional distances without the need for spectacles and/or contact lenses. Jan Willem van der Linden studies the performance of different types of mIOL implantation. He investigates aspects related to the clinical advantages and disadvantages of the different types and tries to find out whether postoperative treatment of posterior capsule opacification causes clinically significant changes in refraction.
