Elite volleyball players are at risk of developing ischemic fingers in their dominant hand. Such injuries can result from arterial emboli originating from the posterior circumflex humeral artery in the dominant shoulder. The aim of Daan van der Pol’s research is to increase our knowledge of this overuse-related injury, to help prevent young, healthy and fit volleyball players from developing irreversible tissue damage in their fingers.
