The aim of Mirte Kuipers’s research is to describe and understand the causes of socioeconomic differences in smoking behaviour in European countries. She investigates a number of ways in which socioeconomic status may affect smoking initiation, and also evaluates the impact of tobacco control policies on smoking rates in national populations.
