Reindert Emmens carries out research into two cardiovascular diseases in which infection plays an important role: myocraditis and acute myocardial infection (AMI). Myocarditis is primarily caused by viral infection, and AMI results from one or more of the coronary arteries becoming blocked. Emmens carries out a number of studies focusing on diagnosis, progression and treatment of the two diseases.
