Madelon de Jong-Lenters focuses on the the role of parenting practices and family functioning in children’s oral health behaviours and childhood dental caries in a high-risk population. Based on questionnaires and video observations of parent-child interactions. De Jong-Lenters has found that, on average, the children of strict parents were more likely to have a significant amount of caries. She also looks at the relationship between obesity and child behaviour problems and dental caries.
