Bregje Termeer studies the work of young Muslim artists in the Netherlands in the context of a large-scale research project on the culturalisation of citizenship. Termeer examines how young Muslims engage in artistic strategies that disengage from the culturalist logic of the dominant Dutch discourse on integration. She asks how young Muslim artists in the Netherlands position themselves vis-à-vis dominant culturalist discourses, and what strategies artistic production makes possible in this regard.
