Robert Rietkerk’s research is about the world of elementary particles and ways of calculating their behaviour. This world is accurately described by a theory known as the Standard Model of particle physics. To test this theory, predictions are made for measurable quantities in collisions at particle accelerators. An important step in this process is the calculation of a scattering amplitude, a mathematical function that describes all possible interactions during a collision process. Rietkerk focuses on computing higher-order corrections of these scattering amplitudes.
