Imaging techniques can play an important role in preventing complications associated with aortic valve replacement operations. Mustafa Elatter investigates the use of computed tomography angiography, a technique used to visualise arterial and venous vessels by means of contrast media. He develops image segmentation and detection algorithms that provide clinicians with quantitative data on distances and dimensions relevant for the planning of valve replacement procedures.
