In his research, Peter Ventevogel focuses on mental health care in Afghanistan and Burundi, two countries affected by continuous complex humanitarian crises. He examines local perspectives on mental health and healing, and asks how health problems can be measured and functional systems can be developed to address mental health and psychosocial problems in the context of complex humanitarian emergencies.
