Margriet Timmer’s research focuses on Barrett’s esophagus and primary sclerosing cholangitis, chronic inflammatory conditions that predispose patients to developing cancer. The aim is to increase our knowledge of relevant biomarkers in the intestinal tract. She investigates markers that could be of value in diagnosing malignancy and predicting malignant progression and response to therapy.
