Across European countries there is substantial variation in the incidence of patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) requiring renal replacement therapy. To date, it is unclear which factors explain this variation, but a possible explanation is a difference in numbers of patients with Chronic kidney disease who progress to ESRD. Katharina Brück therefore investigates if differences in the prevalence of CKD and related outcomes exist across European regions.
