Geoengineering activities can potentially contribute to preventing serious or irreversible climate change and its impacts, but can also involve risks to the environment and human health. Haomiao Du looks at these risks from an international legal perspective. She examines the rules and principles that apply to geoengineering techniques under contemporary international law and proposes a framework for the governance of geoengineering in the future.
