Homogenous catalysts often consist of coordination complexes made of a metal centre and coordinating ligands. Studying the coordination chemistry of these complexes can contribute to our understanding of homogenous catalysis. Vincent Vreeken’s research focuses specifically on pincer ligands, which are characterised by a coordination mode and configuration that usually results in high stability. This allows them to be used for highly endothermic reactions and for fundamental reactivity studies.
