Valy Faye analyses the transition from self-subsistence farming to market farming in Wolof and Serer areas of Senegal. His study also aims to fill a lack of research into the history of farm labour in Senegalese historiography, and is based on cross-referencing information from archives, bibliographic and oral sources.
