For large scale deployment, solar power needs to be able to compete with other technologies. The conversion efficiency of a solar panel is the most important lever in the cost of electricity it produces. Sander Mann studies the interaction of light and matter at the nanoscale, a field known as nanophotonics. The aim of his experimental and theoretical research is to explore how nanophotonics can play a role in increasing the efficiency of solar cells.
