Although many asthma patients experience the onset of symptoms in early childhood, a proportion of asthma patients develops asthma in later life. Identifying these patients with adult-onset or late-onset asthma is important because this type of asthma is often more severe. Christa de Groot follows 186 patients with late-onset asthma to investigate the clinical, functional and inflammatory characteristics of this disease.
