The majority of cancer patients and survivors are affected by serious concerns such as fear and depressive complaints that can result in considerable psychological distress. To prevent an accumulation of such concerns, it is important that healthcare providers and patients communicate about concerns in an optimal way. The aim of Kim Brandes’s research is to gain a better understanding of the factors that explain why some patients do and others do not express their concerns, so more effective interventions can be designed.
