Thyroid hormone and estrogen both play an essential role in energy metabolism. Zhi Zhang investigates the possible effects of these hormones on the control of energy metabolism via the central nervous system. He does this by studying the effects of administering these hormones in distinct hypothalamic nuclei. Zhang evaluates various aspects of metabolic alterations including food intake, body weight. Body temperature, locomotor activity and energy expenditure.
