Marlon Boeve’s research focuses on the idea of the compact city: the concentration and mix of functions in the urban area that ensures a high quality of life in that environment. The aims of compact urbanisation include preserving rural areas, restricting mobility and increasing support for urban amenities. Boeve investigates whether the existing environmental law tools are sufficiently geared towards turning the concept of the compact city into a reality.
