Since the widespread intruduction of antiretroviral therapy (ART), major improvements have been made in preventing mortality and morbidity resulting from HIV, but the lives of many are still affected by HIV-related illnesses. Saskia Jansen’s research looks at epidemiological difficulties relating tot he management of HIV-infected people in the Central African setting of Gabon. She also focuses on diagnostic and programmatic issues relating to TB, the most important opportunistic co-infection in people living with HIV.
